Cookies stopped working in both IE and Firefox
Recently, cookies stopped working in both IE (8) and Firefox (3.6.3).When I log into any site and use the site's "keep me logged in" feature, everything's fine until I close the browser window. The next time I attempt to go to the site, I find it has logged me out. I've found that the cookies used to enable the feature are destroyed on every browser close/open. This makes no sense, as I've got the Internet Options set to NOT remove cookies when the browser is shut down...This is really frustrating. Anyone else seen this?Thanks... 1 person needs an answerI do too

Thanks for the thread links. Unfortunately, I'd already been through those...Yes, I understand that the site authors control how long cookes last before they expire. The sites I'm using all allow ~30 days. The problem still appears to be that cookies are being deleted when the browser gets closed; this applies to all the cookies, with expiration dates ranging from a few minutes to a few years in the future...

Can you tell us what steps you taken/performed to avoid giving you the same fix again and concentrate on another way you didn't try?Did you install/remove any software/toolbar recently?Download IEFix, run it and reboot your machinehttp://windowsxp.mvps.org/IEFIX.htm Run the sfc /scannow to repair some of the system core files that may be damaged or corrupt. nass -- http://www.nasstec.co.uk

I've tried disabling some add-ons in IE. I've tried disabling all add-ons in IE.I've tried starting the computer in Safe Mode with Networking.I've tried clearing IE's/Firefox's caches.I had not installed/removed any software before the problem started.sfc /scannow is worthless because I can't find my original XP CD.IEFix won't download...I'm about out of ideas at this point.

I finally managed to download IEFix and run it. I got the following error: Run-time error '-2147024770 (8007007e)': Automation error The specified module could not be found.I'd email the HijackThis log, but MS is preventing you from giving out your email address, apparently... ;)
