Control Panel Mail (32 bit) Icon Stopped Working
We are running a Windows 2008 R2 domain with Win 7 Enterprise for clients. We are using folder redirection/offline files for most personal folders (My Docs, Favorites, Desktop, Contacts, etc.) Also using roaming profiles. While troubleshooting a server issue, my admin messed up folder/file security temporarily. Win 7 clients couldn't access their profiles or redirected/offline files. The security issues and ownership have since been fixed, but there is still some residual damage. The issue arises in the fact that one of my users is unable to open the "Mail (32 bit)" application in the control panel after this occurred. Double-clicking yields nothing. Instead of a mail icon, the icon is just a blank page. I've seen this "blank page" icon before on numerous other start menu/quick launch icons when users didn't have proper access. However for this user, access has been restored entirely to his profile and redirected/offline files. Things I've done. 1. I ensured the user has proper permissions to profile & redirected files (I took ownership, then gave him full access to folders and subfolders, then restored ownership to the user). 2. I cleared the PC's offline cache as detailed in the following article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/230738 Still the mail 32 bit icon is not working. Any thoughts as to how to fix this solution? I know I could wipe the user's profile and user files, but I'm looking for a more elegant solution in case for when this happens to other users in the future. Thanks!

What is the mail application? It seems that users profiles or caches for the mail application are corrupt. The issue can be fixed after you reinstall the application or reinitialize it. Thanks for the reply. The application is just Outlook (MS Office 2010). Is there a simple way to re-initialize Outlook, or should I uninstall/reinstall?
