I had finally thought MS brought out a decent OS since XP. Until after a few days, my PC on WIN7 continually loses connectivity (no problem when booted as XP-PRO or XP Home). Setup is AMD system --> NIC (onboard) --> 3Com hub (8 port) --> Dynamode Homeline (Enet over Power) --> Netgear Router --> ADSL Any dieas why this can ONLY happen on Windows 7??

i have found the same problem but on a Laptop it will have a network connection one min and then gone the next. its a real problem i have found and as far as i know there is no way to resolve it. i have had my whole technical team working to find the answer but as far they have had no luck its just one of the bugs that 7 has had. i know its not much help but its just so you know your not on your own

Worries me that MS cannot provide a basic network. Why should we bother using their OS if it cannot access network devices, the internet, oh and evem MSN.COm or Technet? I have bitten the bullet and I am about to instal L I N U X As it is much better than Windows, more stable, BETTER support And MS wonder why people ar eup in arms against them and their extortinate prrices. If theor OS was a car or bycycle, you could take back and get a refund. Apart from which the manufacturer would provide a WORKING product.

OK you are so confused here. Networking win7 is fine when you use supported hardware / software.With now over 100 workstation systems running win7 across many networks I can tell you there is nothing wrong with windows.You need to look at WHY YOU are having issue and stop bashing windows.You think LINUX is going to help you??? The only way to get REAL support for LINUX is to pay an arm and leg.(I provide support for Centos 5 @ 195.00 an hour and I am CHEAP)FACT: MAC and Linux are not well supported, by hardware or software vendors.You need to get down to the specs of the wireless card / router / drivers in use.We have 20 netbooks floating around networks in three states (different access points all over the place)I get MAYBE one call a week where they have any network issue at all, all are solved within mins of the call.The issue we have are printer drivers needed installed..network is fine..only getting end users to browse to the drivers share is another thing.And the only thing the people are doing is BUYING windows, because is a GREAT product, 90 % plus of the world runs windows..why would they be SUCH a leader in sales if they where not the best across board home / business end user OS?? they wouldn't be if they where second or third..

Hi, How many machines are there in the network? Does the issue occur on another Windows 7 machine? To troubleshoot the issue, I suggest you try the following steps. 1. Bypass the router and hub, and then connect to ADSL cable modem directly for a test. Can Internet be accessed fine? 2. Temporarily turn off firewall on the machine and router (If it has). 3. Upgrade the NIC driver. 4. Restart the computer to Safe Mode with Networking to check the result. Thanks, Novak

Novak, There are Nwk OK? 2 Desktop / tower PC - 1 x WIN XP Y - LAN 1 x Win 7 N - LAN (dual boot Win XP Pro Y - LAN and now Ubuntu ) Y - LAN 1 PSP 3 - Y - WiFi 1 Laptop - XP Pro Y - WiFi All setup and supported by myself. Only issues regarding newtorking are on the WIN 7 platform. I HAVE found work around on other forums [ Less dictorial - re: Bubbapcguy ] where they accpet your moan and groans as normal. The simple fix, is to use Nvidia VIsta/64 drivers for the NIC/Lan. This has increase connectivity to around 90% [ from 40 - 50 ], so I can live with this. Bubbapcguy::: I was not Window Bashing or I would not buy the OS at all. Merely reflecting upon 20 years experience in installing OS from TOS, DOS, BOS, OS/470, VMS, Windows (95, - XP, and various Servers) in addition to IBM/ICL/Pyramid - Unix and proprietary OS. ALL other manufacturers ensure their OS upgrades are backward compatible, until we get to the humble PC. With regard to Linix support, I have found a very cheap and simple method of support - FORUMS - which obviously may not cater for business customers.
