Consistant BSOD in Windows 7 RC1
I have consistantly been getting the Blue screen, after closing Internet Explorer or Chess Titans, but most of the time it also happens when I go to shut down. Can someone give me an idea of what driver may be giving me the trouble?I am not exactly sure what is causing the BSOD's but here is the info from the event log;Log Name: SystemSource: Microsoft-Windows-WER-SystemErrorReportingDate: 6/25/2009 11:29:05 AMEvent ID: 1001Task Category: NoneLevel: ErrorKeywords: ClassicUser: N/AComputer: TESTMACH.DDSIFL.COMDescription:The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. Gary,What do you have for a computer? Have you downloaded any drivers yourself or just let Windows Update handle it?

Hi,The computer is a home built system with a Gigabyte motherboard. Here are the spec's for the computer, and from what I read, is supported for Windows 7. I have 2.5 gigs of ram in the computer, so plenty of memory. The BIOS is the most current that Gigabyte offers for the motherboard. The video adapter is AMD/ATI (Sapphire) Radeon HD 3650(AGP)with 512mb of on board DDR2 memory. As far as drivers, I used the chipset drivers from Gigabyte (up to date) and the Windows 7 beta drivers from AMD/ATI released 6/15/2009. This issue has been going on right from the beginning of my using Win 7 from the first available beta.

Gary,Have you tried the latest AC97 codec for that realtek sound?Based on this MSDN article, it's a driver issue.

Actually, no, at least not with the RC1 release... I did previously however, downloaded and installed.I dont know if it makes any different, but the BSOD only seems to happen when I hit a webpage that has hi res graphics on it, or if I play the Chess Titans... The BSOD only shows up after I close I.E. or the chess game... If I go to text only or low res sites in I.E., I can close it without the crash.I will click your link to the AC97 drivers and give that a go also...

I download and installed the AC97 update but it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the sound...Update 7/1/2009: Since I installed the update, now the computer reboots every 5 - 10 minutes by itself. Screensaver and power management are off, and nothing set in the BIOS.Of course I am not positive that this is what triggered this problem or not, but it was not doing it like this! The pattern changed.I will try to revert the driver back or just unistall / disable it to see if this is the problem, but my gut tells me it is not.

After removing the AC97 drivers, the computer no longer rebooted itself, and Chess Titans nor Internet explorer caused it to reboot.I tried the Restart option from the Start menu and it went to the blue screen once again with the same error as initially stated.
