Connection to shares / printers lost after waking up from sleep

Hi All,

One of my users is having an annoying problem which i am unable to solve until now....

When her PC (Windows 8.1 Pro,  member of a server 2012 essentials domain) is woken up after going into sleep mode, every now and then (but not always) the connections to her shares nd the network printers are lost. Usually when she clicks on a share the connection is created again (but not always). The network printers seem to be offline, even though all other users can use these printers. She dos have internet-access, which rules out issues with the NIC (i guess)

When she reboots her PC, everything is working as it should be, but, as she usually find experiences this issue when she is i a hurry, i would like to solve this issue permanently. Any solutions / suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your swift answer!

Best Regards, b.

Hi,

After reading the issue which you raised, we consider the most possible reasons for the issue is the power settings for network adapter. When the PC come into sleep mode, the network adapter may lose the connection to other device and network shares.

Firstly, please update your drivers to the latest version in device manager.

Then right click the adapter and choose Properties > Power Management tab and uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power. Do the same operations for Universal Serial Bus Controllers and Printers in device manager.

Also if available, please share us a report of the power settings, open CMD and type:

powercfg energy
