Connection problems with .Net programs under Windows 7
Hi,
I have installed a fresh Windows 7 on a new PC and I'm using it for some weeks now.
I noticed that all .Net applications cannot access the internet for about 10 seconds after they are started. This only happens with .Net applications and with applications from different providers. I can also reproduce it with own C# applications.
I start an application I have this ~10 seconds lock and afterwards the application can access the web without problems. If I close it and start it again, it's the 10 seconds start again.
I already switched off the Windows firewall and also the Microsoft Security Essentials. I also tried switching the Windows user but without success.
Another interesting thing: I found out (after experimenting for quite a while) that if I write an own C# application that uses the WebClient class to access a webpage, the same problem appears. But if I connect to a database (e.g. MySQL) via Linq then this
connection is established fine and without any delay...
I have installed Windows 7, 64 Bit with .Net Framework 4.0
Best greetings,
Sven

Hi Sven,
Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet forums.
Please try to enter Safe Mode with internet to check if the issue persists. If it works,
Clean Boot to find which part result in this problem.
Meanwhile, .Net Framework 4.0 is not shipped with Windows 7.
I suggest you also ask this question in
MSDN Forum in order to resolve your problems efficiently.

Thanks a lot for your message.
I booted in safe mode but that didn't bring any changes unfortunately. :-(
I know that .Net Framework 4 is not shipped with Windows 7 but I installed it manually as a few .Net programms needed it.
Best greetings,
Sven

Hi Sven,
The purpose of former suggestion about Safe Mode and Clean Boot is to troubleshoot the influence about Windows drivers or some applications. You can also try
to reinstall .Net Framework 4.0 to see if it works. If it doesn’t make any change, I consider this problem is related to the development. However, we are not the best support source on development.
In order to resolve your questions efficiently, I suggest you make a new thread in
.NET Development forum. I am still glad to provide you with any help about Windows.
Thanks for your understanding and patience.
Best Regards,
Miya Yao

Hi Miya,
I found the reason for the problem this morning: In my Windows internet settings, the option was activated to search the internet settings automatically. This has caused all .Net programs to take >10 seconds on their first connection to access and web
information. What is strange is that it didn't have any impact to native (e.g. C++) programs.
However, after switching off this functionality, all .Net programs went back to normal. :-)
Best greetings,
Sven
