Connection problems after Windows 7 install
I had XP running with a linksys sd205 5 port 10/100 switch which connected my pc to the net...and 2 others linked to the net (1 Vista 1 windows 7) through it via cable. XP died so I Installed windows 7 on the host pc. I can now get onto the net ok but the other 2 pc's in the house cant. I think it has something to do with no default gateway IP address. Sharing is on...but local area connection appears as unidentified public...no internet access

Other than a switch, are you using any router as well? Btw is both of the device using dhcp or static IP? What about the rest of the pcs, is it having static or dhcp IP address assign?

Thank you for the reply Daniel. I've found the problem. You are right, once i manually allocated IP's all was fine. Many thanks for the reply. Cheers Dave
