Connection lost to printers ramdomly
Hi, We have a network of 01 windows 2003 server domain with 50 users. We upgraded almost all PCs from XP to windows 7 machines on last few months. Users experiencing some ramdom problems with printing. All the printers installed on the main server & networked. When user inform that they can't print, then when I tried to print a test page the error message appear as: "Test page failed to print. Would you like to view assistant? The server print spoorler is not running. Please restart the the spooler on the server or restart the server machine"" But when I check the server printer spooler or Local machine print spooler, it seems the above message is incorrect (serive is running). Anyway once I restarted the printer spooler on the local machine, everything is comes back to normal. Sometime i do need to restart the server spooler + local machine spooler to sort the problem out. This happen at least for a one user for a day. The printers installed on the server are HP 4700, HP p4014, Dell 2330, HP p2015, HP cp1515. I didnt had this problem when i had the Xp machines. I feel like this is a driver compatibility issue with windows 7. Any advise would be help full. Thanks

Hi, Does the issue occur on each Windows 7 machine or certain one? This issue can occur by incompatible printer driver or corrupted printer spooler. To troubleshoot the issue, please perform the following steps. 1. Access HP website and download the latest driver for the printer, and then install them on the Windows 7 machine to check the result. 2. Clear Printer Spooler files and enable the spooler service a. Click Start, type "Services.msc" (without the quotation marks) in the open box and click OK. b. Double-click "Printer Spooler" in the Services list. c. Click Stop and click OK. d. Click Start, type "%WINDIR%\system32\spool\printers" in the open window, and delete all files in this folder. e. Click Start, type "Services.msc" (without the quotation marks) in the open box and click OK. f. Double-click "Printer Spooler" in the Services list. g. Click on Start. In the Startup Type list, make sure that "Automatic" is selected and click OK. 3. Temporarily turn off firewall and antivirus program on the machine. Thanks, Novak
