Connecting two computers VIA ICS
Okay, I have two computer both with the same version of window XP which is XP PRO SP2. I haven't currently updated to SP3 for the simple fact both are about to go to Windows 7. The reson I am trying to connect these two computer this way is because my laptop has received such a bad virus that for some reason everytime i tried to turn it on it either would never make it past the boot screen or when i typed in the passwords it said access denied. I used Spotmau to make a second partition on the hard drive and installed windows xp pro. I can see all the original OS(windows vista) files and all the stuff i needed to get off of it but there are a few things i need to pass through ect... ect... The virus managed to eat up the automated recovery partition and my retarded self never made any restore CD's. Anyways long story short I am trying to get the lap top online via ethernet from my Desktop. What I have is a linksys wireless router with 4 ethernet ports. My internet connection comes from my cell phone via usb. So what im wanting to do is this here... ISP(via usb)>>>>Desktop(via ethernet)>>>>>Router(via ethernet)>>>>>Lap Top...... Reason being is I cannot find the wireless card drivers for XP given the computer came with Vista. Last night I setup the network using network set up and it worked for a period of 45mins until the power went out and when everything came back on it wouldnt work. There are no problem with the router nor either computer hardware wise. Ivetried turning off all firewalls ect... and still nothing on the lap top but the desktop always works.1 person got this answerI do too

Well you have a router which should make this fairly easy. Follow the link below, its what I've used to set it up and never had a problem. If for some reason you do run into issues there is a little troubleshooting guide. Also a couple of thinks to try. 1. Turning off DHCP on the router and setting the 2 PCs to static. 2. using a crossover cable to connect the two machines. http://www.annoyances.org/exec/show/ics_xpMCP. MCDST. LVL 80
