Connecting to the Internet in Windows XP Mode inside Windows 7 Professional Virtual Machine
I have a new iMac i7 Core 64-bit machine with 8GB of RAM. I installed Parallels 6 with all updates. I installed Windows 7 Home Premium only to discover that I needed Windows 7 Professional to use Windows XP Mode. I purchased an upgrade and used the CD to install the new Professional Version. I downloaded an installed the Virtual PC, the Windows XP Mode and everything else I needed to complete this process. I can connect to the Internet instantly with Mac OS X. I connect instantly with Windows 7 Professional. I have all the settings in Parallels to use Shared Networking with all Mac Discs. I have perused the Knowledge Base and Forums for 4 days and found some solutions that I either cannot implement because the suggested settings are grayed out, or they simply don't work. The problem, in my opinion, is with network settings within Windows 7 Professional, since that is the last stage of Internet connectivity I'm getting. In Windows XP Mode, I see that I am connected in Network Places. I have turned firewalls off and on. I have set up home networks and Workgroups. I have allowed exceptions for program connectivity in Windows Security. I have tried Shared Networking, Bridged Networking. I simply cannot connect in XP Mode no matter what I do. Does anyone, anywhere have any ideas as to where the magic checkbox is hiding that will allow me access to the Internet in Windows XP Mode? Thanks, in advance for your help. Never mind guys. I just discovered that I can successfully run my older version of FrontPage2000 directly inside Windows 7 Professional. So, there's no need to even install that blasted Windows XP Virtual Machine. Hope nobody spent too much time on this question. Thanks, again.1 person needs an answerI do too

HiI am glad that you solve your specific problem.XP-Mode Network adapter has to be set to use the Win 7 Pro Network adapter (No Nat, No bridge), it then would be considered has an independent computer on the Router and will be able to surf the Internet. Jack-MVP Windows Networking. WWW.EZLAN.NET
