Connecting to shares from a hyperlink in Word 2007
Hello, I can type a share location in explorer and get to the share no problem. example: \\servername\share IfI create a hyperlink in Word 2007 and click on the link, I can still get to the same share, but it pops 4 of the same errors back to back: Windows cannot access \\servername Check the spelling of the name. Otherwise, there might be a problem with your network. To try to identify and resolve network problems, click Diagnose. Details show: Error code: 0x80070035 The network path was not found. -thanks edit: This in on Windows 7 Beta machine.

I don't see your error. The most likely cause is some network problem. I would look at the TCP/IP properties if Explorer has the same problemRating posts helps other users Mark L. Ferguson MS-MVP

Turned out to be a DFS root/ DNS alias issue.Domain shared same name as DFS (was created before I came along), thus creating errors when it tried to resolve the name.example: domain: fictional_domain.localdfs root: fictional_domainThis is generally frowned upon for the following reason:By default a PC will append the FQDN to any network queries, in this case: fictional_domain.localSo, querying the DFS Root: fictional_domain resulted in fictional_domain.fictional_domain.local query.Resolution:Created DNS cname entry:alias: fictional_domainfqdn: fictional_domain.fictional_domain.localfqdn for target host: fictional_domain.localHope that helps someone else that may come across this issue.-flay
