Connecting to a Server 2003 File Share from a Vista Business box
I have a laptop, connected to my workgroup (no domain involved here) via wired ethernet. All machines in the network are wired on the same network and configured to be part of the same workgroup. The laptop that is having the issue isnamed "Eric-PC".I am able to hit file shares on other Vista PCs via start->run using \\<PCName.I am able to hit file shares on the Win Server 2K3 machine via start->run using its IP address from Eric-PC.Other Vista machines are able to hit the fileshares on the Win Server 2K3 machine via the server's computer name or its IP address.I cannot seem to resolve the IP when I try to do things with just the computer name of the server from Eric-PC. Ping fails by computer name but works by IP (both succeed when pinging the other Vista PCs), same with remote desktop connection.I checked my hosts file and found nothing.Could the Eric-PC be missing a certificate or something? Eric-PC is setup to use DHCP and DNS is automatic. It has no issues resolving anything else but every connection to the server fails unless its done by IP.Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks,Jared
