Connecting old computer to different location in network
Hi, recently bought a new computer with W7. Took the old one and tried connecting it to a new location in our network (It worked perfectly in the old location). We have the cable modem out to a "hub". That "hub" is connected to another "hub" in another part of the building. That 2nd hub was directly connected to the computer before. The new location is directly from the 1st "hub". The computer can see the network connection but won't assign it an IP address and we have limited or no connectivity. What is frustrating is it worked before, now that it is upstream one "hub" we're having difficulties. Whatever can I do?! Thanks.

Hi, What is the TCP/IP type of the old computer, Obtain an IP address automatically or static IP? If you set the static IP and DNS of the old computer, this issue occurs may be caused by the new location hubs subnet is different with it. We can set the old computer as Obtain an IP address automatically. Meanwhile, you should check the DHCP server settings. If the issue persists, please paste the screenshot of the result after running ipconfig /all in Command Prompt.Kim Zhou TechNet Community Support
