Connected to public network - no internet access?!
I cant internet in cafes, etc - help! I used to be able to connect, but now cant - dont remember what updates were installed before trouble started, AVG for sure but maybe others. Now my network shows connected, in Networks and Sharing, but with a yellow triangle "no internet access", WTF? Totally boggled. Connects fine on what it thinks of as home network wireless.

Hi, Is there a user name or password when accessing the public network? If so, please assure to import the correct information. Here are some suggestions you can try: 1. Temporarily turn off firewall on the machine. 2. Upgrade the network adapter driver and configure the connection to obtain an IP address automatically 3. Perform a System Restore to check the result. If the issue persists when accessing public Internet, please type "ipconfig /all" in Command Console and post the result here for research. Thanks, Novak

I have exactly the same problem. I try to connect at Starbucks or the British Library and it doesn't work. I'm connected but with that yellow triangle with the exclamation point. I am always able to connect to my home network fine so I don't think it is my network card or the router. IP address is detected automatically. One thing...the 'OS Wireless LAN Profile' for every connection is always has the name of my home network. It is a dropdown menu and I have no option to change it. I need to get this solved. Please help!!!!

Anyone know why this is happening? Thanks! Does the alert appear on all the computers Network adapter icons? or it is only visible on some of them?
