Connect to website domain to modify documents
Recently installed Windows 7 Professional on my laptop. When I click on MAP NETWORK DRIVE in Windows Explorer and then select "Connect to a website to store documents and pictures" I input my domain name and shared folder and assign it a name to display. I also input my userid/password to access this domain link. When I double click on the name to go to website domain it displays the Web Folders, but when I click on the Web Folders my data files do not display i.e. Word docs, jpg files, spreadsheets, etc. However, I know the link is working cause I can copy/paste files on top of the Web Folders it writes the files to the folder. Why are my files not displaying under the Web folders?

Hi, Please also try to access the share folder with UNC (\\computername\folder or \\IP Address\folder) and see how it works. Thanks. Nicholas Li - MSFT

Nicholas, I tried the UNC to access the shared folders and to see the files but did not work. I installed Windows XP mode with Windows Virtual PC and was able to access the files. Still not sure why Windows 7 Professional itself does not have the same capability, only lets me see the folders and not the contents of the folders. If you come across a fix for this, please let me know. In the meantime, XP mode works great. Thanks, Pam

Hi, Thank you for your update. Since accessing the share folder with UNC failed, was there any error message appeared? If so, please also let us know. Thanks. Nicholas Li - MSFT

When I tried accessing the folder with UNC, I rec'd error msg -- "The folder you entered does not appear to be valid" I tried many different scenarios:\\vistacay4rent.com\shared \\readyhosting.com\vistacay4rent.com\shared nothing I tried was valid. Can you suggest another way to input the UNC?Thanks, Pam
