Connect to LAN but not internet
This has spread to three computers now. I was afraid I had been hit with a rootkit that installs on the MOBO so i reflashed the BIOS. That didn't help. I replaced the NIC, that didn't help either. Is it possible for an outside force of some kind to know what Twitter account I am logged into and in turn kill my ability to connect to the internet ever again? I bought a new PC to use as a media server the other day and that is fine. My wife's PC and laptop are fine. This first hit my two desktops in my downstairs office(my wifes PC is there also and is fine) I had been using a Twitter account where I voice a lot of opinions that may not be popular....but then again so do thousands of other people and they have no problems like this. Last night I had the same problem with my laptop and that is connecting to the wireless router upstairs.(my wifes PC is hardwired to a hub that is then connected to that same router and my new media-server PC is hardwired directly to that same router and they are fine) Her laptop connects to that same router thru wireless just fine... It truly seems to only be the PCs that I have used to connect (using TOR) to Twitter to access my one account...it seems like now my laptop is dead to me and I will need to by new MOBO\CPU and RAM for my other desktops for them ever to get connected again...but how is this possible? like i said, i got new router for my own work station(I need to use VPN to work form home sometimes)and new NICs for both of my desktops and they still get no internet access...how is this possible? Question about network hubs....I have the modem plugged into the hub and also have the upstairs wireless router as well as my wifes desktop plugged into it directly as well. Until last night all of those were fine(now my laptop can't hit the wireless at all) I have a seperate router that has better VPN security built in so I can work from home when I need to and I plugged that into the hub as well and need to then plug my two work PCs into that router for the VPN access....is there any reason that would not work or cause problems? It should be fine as far as I can imagine. anyway please...any help at all would be great...I feel like I am being paranoid but now that my laptop cannot hit the wireless I don't think I am being paranoid anymore...just want to get back on the internet thanks
