In GUI Ad-hoc connections does not show

Using netsh it shows but does not connect

Hi,

Have you test that other device could find this AD-Hoc network? You can try to recreate this network for test.

Based on my research, An ad hoc network is automatically deleted after all users disconnect from the network or when the person who set up the network disconnects and goes out of range of the other users of the network, unless you choose to make it a permanent network when you create it. Therefore, please check whether you encountered similar situation.

I suspect that the error message means that the profile MyNetwork2 doesnt exist. Therefore, you may create the profile first.

Yes, I have tested other devices can find, connect, play game through it.

if it does not exist, how can it be shown by "show networks"

This problem is happening only with systems with windows 8.1 (it is happenning with another system too) other systems with windows 7/8 can find and connect to it. they does not even need to run netsh. they get it in GUI.

I have the same problem, I think. I have a RadioThermostat that is connected via Wifi. In setting it up, it comes up as an AdHoc to allow me to configure it to connect to the Internet. It always appeared in the list of connections shown under the network icon in the notification area on windows 8.

Now, on 8.1, it does not show there so I cannot get to it to set it up, again. I live and travel in an RV so my Internet accesses vary a lot from week to week. I have multiple Wifi adapters I can use as well as an ethernet connection to a Wifi As Wan router.

The Thermostat is working properly as I can boot linux and see it just fine and configure it as I need to but it is such a pain to have to reboot into an awkward OS just to reconnect my thermostat to the Internet.

There is no profile for it but a netsh wlan show all   shows it in the list as SSID=11 and the name. it is AdHoc, Open and No encryption.

it is almost like 8.1 has forgotten it and I can't make it "unforget" it, again.

Someone out there was able to find a manual turnaround temp solution the worked for me regarding this issue, feel free to try it too.
