Connect To Dialog does not display
For some reason the connect to dialog box on my 32-bit windows 7 home premium laptop no longer displays. It will still connect to know wireless networks and if I go through the Network and Sharing Center I can go to manage wireless networks and add a new wireless network there if I know the SSID. However if I click the "Connect to a network" link nothing happens, similarly if I mouse over the network icon in the task bar nothing pops up. Any ideas on how I can get the dialog back? Thanks

Hi, 1. Run network troubleshooter to detect the problem. 2. Create a new user profile and log in to test if the issue occurs. Tried both of those and nothing worked. Finally figured it out though. I went into repair mode and ran a chkdsk and fixed some file index problems and decided to run the system file check (sfc). When I ran that it told me that it repaired some files but some files were unable to be repaired and that it would log the results to the CBS.log. So I went into the CBS log and found which files were corrupted and there found the wlanmm.dll.mui and mssip32.dll (among a couple of others) as being corrupted and not fixable. So I went and copied those files from a working version of Windows 7, logged back into the repair console and replaced them, I also replaced the catalog versions of those files so that hopefully in the future it will not try to re-copy the corrupted versions back into the system directories. When I rebooted that seemed to fix my problem. I am not sure how they became corrupted in the first place though but at least I was able to fix it.
