Conflict between computer settings and Windows Live Mail
I am getting a conflict between my computer settings and Windows Live Mail and Windows Live Hotmail/Calendar. When computers "Regional and Language Options | Date - Short Date Format" settings are set to "dd-MMM-yy" it conflicts with the Windows Live Mail and Windows Live Hotmail/Calendar "Birth date and Anniversary" date formats. Whenever a date is placed in the Windows Live Mail "Birth date and Anniversary" field the date in the field changes to "mm/dd/yy" which causes a conflict in the date format. Enter "mm/dd/yyyy" in the "Birth date and Anniversary" date field in Windows Live Mail when your computer settings are set to "dd-MMM-yy" and Windows Live Mail switches the "mm and dd" numbers. Is there a fix? I like to see dd-MMM-yy on my computer. Also why are Windows Live Mail and Windows Live Hotmail contact list different? In Windows Live Mail you can enter an "Anniversary date" but not in Windows Live Hotmail contact list!WinXP all updates, WLM 2009 v14Thanks,WWHOAWM (Dan)1 person needs an answerI do too

I can't solve your problem but you helped me work around my problem so, for what it's worth, thanks. I innd that, when the short date format in my regional options has MMM rather than MM (to show December as Dec rather than 12), events are added to the wrong month. For example, when I try to add an event for January it is recorded in October. Changing the short date format makes Windows Live Mail put the event in the proper month but, like you Dan, I would much perfer to see December as Dec and not 12.

Yes I know, They did emailed me in reference to the date issue and said they would look into it but had no way to fix it at that time. Their workaround was to set the date the way they wanted it to be displayed, not the way I want it...It may seem like a small problem for the average user between their computer and Live/Hotmail, but does the same conflict happen with their other programs? It's embarrassing to send a birthday/Anniversary email to a customer and have the wrong date!
