Conflict between IntelliType Pro Beta Software for Windows 7 and HP Quick Launch Buttons
I've encountereda funbug in the IntelliType Pro beta softwarerecently posted by Microsoft for Windows 7. The software hijacked the hardware buttons on my new HP Pavillion DV4-1287cl laptop. I would have never noticed since the only button I use is the one to disable and enable wireless; however, I accidentally hit the volume control and suddenly a dozen instances of Excel 2007 popped on my screen. It turns out the only button not pointing to the wrong location was the wireless button - all the others loaded Office 2007 apps. As soon as I uninstalled the IntelliType Pro software, the problem was immediately resolved. BTW, the event also gave me an opportunityto bequite impressed with memory management in the x64 RC.Literally a dozeninstances of Excel were started and it barelymade a dent in CPUor RAM usage....Stephen

I had the same problem here. There seems to be a 'feature' in Microsoft Intellitype that automatically maps those hardware buttons to excel stuff. Very handy. I've opened c:\Program Files\Microsoft IntelliType Pro\commands.xml in notepad, deleted *all* references to excel, killed the itype.exe and restarted it and voila, problem solved :) You can download my altered version of commands.xml here: http://rapidshare.com/files/266092603/commands.xml.html Mirror: http://pastebin.com/f58036e93 Hope that helps :-)
