Computer won't shutdown.
I edited my msgina.dll file in Windows XP to give me a Windows 7 look. When I press shutdown on the start menu, I get"Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."This refreshes my desktop and closes the start menu. I can not shut down.

Hi General Echidna, - How exactly did you edit msgina.dll file? msgina.dll is a module loaded by Winlogon to implement the authentication policy. The file performs all user identification and authentication interactions. As you have changed the system file, I would suggest you to restore your system to an earlier point when it was working fine without any issue. I edited the bitmaps for the shutdown menus. I shut my computer down by logging off first, then shutting down at the "network login" screen. Upon next boot, the logon does not appear and restarts my computer. My dad has been looking at it and reinstalled XP with the disc. (Safe Mode and others on the setup screen didn't work) It now says something about connecting to the internet and my background and mouse are showing. (It's only been doing so for about 15-30 minutes) I wasn't there for most of the steps, so I'm not sure exactly what's happened, but my dad says this should work when finished. Thanks for your help though. I think my main problem was using a program called "Resource Hacker" to change .dll's farther than what most 14 year-olds can comprehend.I made a system restore point just minutes before following this guide.
