Computer takes too long to startup!
I use windows xp. When i start my computer it takes about 50 seconds on boot page(the one where a blue bar moves from left to right below windows XP symbol in black background). Moreover, after welcome page the wallpaper remains for about 2-3 minutes and only then the taskbar and other icons appear. All over it takes about 4-5 minutes to boot. My friends computer starts up in few seconds. I want a faster boot. There are no programs in startup folder, and in msconfig also i have removed unnecessary startups. I use CCleaner for cleanup and AVG as antivirus and malwarebytes' antimalware as anti spyware.1 person needs an answerI do too

Here are a few things that you have possibly overlooked in your clean up: 1. Make sure you are free from malware as that can slow it down. If necessary, run your ‘anti’ programs.2. Go through this list http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/expert/northrup_restoreperf.mspx 3. Check if your antivirus program is scanning at boot time and stop it.4. You’ll get a slightly faster start up if you optimise the boot files and applications by running a special defragmentation, i.e. in a Run window (Windows key+R), type cmd and press Enter to open a command prompt then type defrag C:\ -b (note the two spaces) and press Enter. 5. When you have a slow boot, check that no external drives have media in them. If they have, experiment by booting with it inserted and without. 6. Boot from the XP CD and select the first repair option (R) which will take you to the Recovery Console. Type the Administrator password or press Enter if you haven’t set one. When the command prompt (>) appears, type chkdsk /r (note the space) and press Enter.
