Computer freezes up while on line
My computer keeps freezing up whenever I'm online, actually it freezes up during start up, re-boot, or just about anything, sometimes within seconds of re-booting. No rhyme or reason to it. The freezing up can only fixed by unplugging my computer since absolutely nothing responds when it happens, not even the on and off button. Can you help me out??1 person needs an answerI do too

We don't have enough information from you to determine if this is hardware or software. I'm running Firefox 3.6.3, nothing has really changed since this started happening. I have ZoneAlarm as my firewall, avast anti-virus, CCleaner, and RegCure. I've run everything to clean out the computer, including disk clean-up, de-frag, and cleared all history. I've also thoroughly cleaned out the tower. Anti-virus does not show any contaminated files. This has been slowly getting worse.

Get rid of RegCure. Whether or not this is a software issue, registry cleaners/optimizers are junk. See:http://aumha.net/viewtopic.php?t=28099 - registry cleaner threadhttp://lifehacker.com/5482701/whats-the-registry-should-i-clean-it-and-whats-the-pointTime to do some hardware troubleshooting then.MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!

OK, RegCure is gone. I've downloaded Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware (free version) and found 7 infections and 1 spyware. All gone now. Could this have been the problem? So far I haven't had any problems freezing up. I've read everything in the links given and there is no indication of any problems with my hardware or software, other than the infections. I'll repost any further problems, hopefully everything will keep working properly. Thank you so much for all your help ;)

Absolutely malware infection could have caused this. Now go through the thorough removal steps in the link I already gave you just to be sure the machine is really clean.MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!

Apparently that was not the problem, I'm still freezing up (4 tries to post this) and I can't do any further cleaning up, trouble shooting, or anything else for that matter. I don't have another computer and I live in a small town that does not have a reputable computer service place. Any suggestions???

If the computer is clean and it is still locking up then it is probably a hardware issue. All I can suggest is that you go through the hardware testing procedures. I would start with making sure the computer isn't overheating, then test the RAM, then the hard drive.
