Computer Randomly Restarting
Here's the problem details: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: BlueScreen OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3 Locale ID: 3081 Additional information about the problem: BCCode: 116 BCP1: FFFFFA800D2C8010 BCP2: FFFFF8800FA86FA4 BCP3: FFFFFFFFC000009A BCP4: 0000000000000004 OS Version: 6_1_7601 Service Pack: 1_0 Product: 768_1 Files that help describe the problem: C:\Windows\Minidump\101911-21746-01.dmp C:\Users\hn\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-46457-0.sysdata.xml Read our privacy statement online: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=104288&clcid=0x0409 If the online privacy statement is not available, please read our privacy statement offline: C:\Windows\system32\en-US\erofflps.txt The problem is that my computer is randomly shutting off then restarting. First the monitor loses connection then the speakers screw up and then the computer shuts down. This especially happens when I use a lot of CPU, example: when I'm playing Call of Duty: Black Ops (a shooting game). This problem started a day ago when I used Norton to clean out my temporary files. I cleaned out a bit over 5GB of space (if that helps). I use Windows 7 Home Premium and my specs are: - Intel Core i7 CPU 860 @ 2.80GHz - 8GB RAM - 64-bit Operating System - 1.5TB SATA 3GB/s Hard Disk Drive NCQ - nVidia GeForceM-220GT-1GB PCI-E Graphics I'm not a computer expert and I'm only 15 so if you do know the solution to this problem please explain it clearly. Thanks heaps for taking your time to read through this. :D

Hi Sun, The symptoms of this sound very much like a memory issue, or a overheating issue. But more likely bad memory. Use one of the memory utilities to test and see if you perhaps have a bad stick of memory: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/tp/memorytest.htm I'm not sure how freeing up the temp space could have affected anything. YOu might try to do a disk check (go to the start command and type "cmd"). Now, type in "chkdsk" and see if it reports any bad areas on the hard drive.Tom Overton

Hi, Bug Check 0x116: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff557263(v=vs.85).aspx Except checking memory, please also update your video card driver, display card driver, sound card driver from manufacture. If the issue only occurs when using a lot of CPU, it could be a protection measure to avoid CPU or video card overheating. Meanwhile, you can upload C:\Windows\Minidump\101911-21746-01.dmp to SkyDrive and post the link here. Great, glad that's all it was. A can of compressed air is cheaper than a new HD, memory or motherboard!Tom Overton

Hello, 1) First of all disable the auto-restart option from your control panel settings. 2) Remove any recently installed maliciously software/add-on or any other application or toolbar. 3) Update the drivers. 4) Make it sure the error is not caused by the deficient power supply. You may try to change the power supply. 5) Conduct the registry clean up scan for quick fix of the problem. 6) Remove flashy games and/or untrusted antiviruses/antispywares. Conduct the security scan through the most powerful scanners only. 7) Try to cool down your PC as the overheating due to overuse of computer may result in system freezing and sudden restarting. If you have already been experiencing the computer automatic restart and shutdown problem then read this article http://ezinearticles.com/?Computer-Randomly-Restarts!-How-to-Fix-a-Computer-That-Restarts-Randomly&id=4247551 Hope it solves your problem.
