Computer Frerzes when connected to the internet
Hi,I have just purchased a brand new Toshiba L500 laptop with has Windows 7 (64bit). I wanted a dongle to access the internet on the go. So I'v signed a dongle contract which has the Huawei E122 dongle however it did not function properly therefore I have managed to change the dongle to ZTE MF627 instead(as this dongle has all the drivers loaded on to it), both of them supports windows 7. Unfortunately I experience the same problem with the Huawei dongle which both appears to be working fine, until around 15-30minutes into the internet session, my computer will freezes my computer completely which I then have to force it to shut down by pressing the On/Off button. I have tried using my friends dongle which was a ICON 225 (around 13months old) which works fine on my laptop.I have been getting mixed messages around why this had happened. Some say that it could be a drivers issue, however I have tried with the ZTE MF627 which has all the drivers reloaded, which still freezes my laptop. I do not understand whether its a compatability issue with the new version of the dongles(as my friends old dongle works fine on my laptop), or a drivers issue or could be something else?Thank you very much for your helpMany thanksChloe

chole, if your friends dongle works without issue and you can not get the other ones to work, you need to go back to your provider. No way to check the dongle without a second PC the same as your to test with. You need them to show you the dongle(s) work with windows 7.

Thank you guys,I have tried with Windows update and see if there are any new update available, however it show that all windows are up to date. The ZTE dongle has all the divers preloaded onto it which should work, but it still freezes my laptop. I am unsure whether its all the new generation of the dongles are having issues with windows7(specially the 64bit and I have tried the Huawei and ZTE) as my friends old dongle works perfectly fine.I think I am going to return the dongle as it freezes my laptop which I then have to force to shut down by pressing the on/off button every10 minutes which really damages my laptop! I think I might just have to wait for a while then get a newer dongle again, and hopefully the updates for Windows7 and the dongles will be more compatible with each other.Once again thank you for all your helpChloe

Hi Chloe, Please boot the computer to Clean Boot environment to check the issue: How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7 I have checked on Windows 7 Compatibility Center website and I could not find the information about whether the ZTE MF627 is compatible with Windows 7. Meanwhile, I also searched on ZTE site and could not find the driver. To get the driver of this device and further investigation on this issue, you may contact ZTE support: ZTE technical support Note: Microsoft provides third-party contact information to help you find technical support. I had the same problem and I found the solution - I had AVG Free installed. I uninstalled it and replaced it with Avast - and the dongle has been working fine in Win 7 64.The only problem I now have is that when I reboot the 3 software comes up with a fatal error. I read that Flash 10 conflicted (it does) so i replaced it with Flash 9 - but i still have the problem. I now have to hibernate my PC as a reboot requires an uninstall and reinstall of the software.M

Hi Anthony,I have been told by many different technicians that as Windows7 64bit a relatively new, so although the dongles says it is compitable however its not fully developed. I have since changed it to a Wi-Fi dungle, still with 3 and it works brilliantly, its faster then the dongle aswell and around the same prices in the pay monthly priceplan.Hope you find this helpfulChloe
