Running Windows 7 Ultimate release - These messages occur every 30 seconds filling up my system log. How do I turn these off? I have the same problem. Running Windows 7 Enterprise.Additional info:If I scroll down the events to the very first service stop message in the log just after the latest reboot there is one singledifferent message: (Event ID7042) The Computer Browser service was successfully sent a stop control. The reason specified was: 0x40030011 [Operating System: Network Connectivity (Planned)] Comment: None Then it just cycles between stopped and running states for ever.Trying to figure it out...

Hi, I would like to confirm if any issue is encountered besides messages in event log. If any third party security program is installed, please temporarily disable it. In addition, if Windows Firewall is enabled, please disable it temporarily. If the issue persists, please test it in Clean Boot mode. Thanks Vivian,I turned off security essentails real time protection with no change noticed in the event log. I also turned off the Windows Firewall and the log messages stopped. I don't notice any other issues around the event messages in the log. Now with that piece of information it seems like I should be able to turn those messages off, but I don't see any real obvious way to do so.

I still have everything running and strangely the messages have stopped during the night. Since 5AM I only have 3 start/stop cycles!It seems the computer browser starts when needed and stops on it's own normally. There doesn't appear to be any ill effect of this behavior, it's just annoying to have so many logged lines.I did notice quite a few other services starting and stopping on their own with no errors. Thanks again Vivian!I checked those settings and for home/work networks it is enabled. For public networks it is disabled. Now that I understand a little bit more what it does I disabled the service for now. On W7 it is installed as a manual service by default so something is continually trying to start it. I just changed it to disabled for now. If I end up needing it for anything I'll just set it back temproarily then diable it again.Thanks,Brad.

Same problem too with Windows 7 Ultimate.But not every 30 sec, but every 5 minutes, and stopped after 7 second.I see that for Home or Work, turn on network discovery is on but no network adapter is in Home/Work. For Domain, network discovery is offand sharing on (happily ;) ). For Public, all is off.I disabled Computer Service for now.The problem is the log is populated too by other star/stop of other serviceas indicated by David.

I have not been able to confirm, but it appears the behavior is entirely normal.I too have disabled the service for now as it's not very usefull in my tiny network anyway. In my opinion, a serice that is maked as Manual startup and that starts and stops without error, should not log an event.Just my 2 cents.

The guys on the windows Answers group gave me a better solution. If you have the resources to spare... justchange any service that starts and stops too much from Manual to Automatic. That way it just stays running and no message is logged.

The computer browsers service starting and stopping over and over again on Windows 7 started happening on my system when I would run a Linux box in Virtual PC. I just changed the service to Automatic so that it would stay running.
