Computer's IP address cannot be seen by the router or other computers on the network
Hello, I've got a wireless home network with a D-Link Wireless G (Mimo) router. I have 2 laptops which connect to the network wirelessly and I have a PS3 which connects wirelessly as well. I want to be able to share my media files on either laptop so that the PS3 can receive streamed media from them. The PS3 is able to see one of my laptops and all of its shared files, but my other laptop has a problem in that its IP address does not show up in the Router's list of connected IP addresses. It shows up as "unknown" in the list, which also worries me that my router is allowing "unknown" devices to connect. The troubled laptop is connected to the router and can get out to the internet just fine, but I think that maybe the reason the PS3 cannot see the laptop is because somehow its IP address is either not shared or cannot be seen. I have tried disabling the firewall (CyborArmor) on the laptop and that did not help. I checked in my router's configuration to see if there were any firewall type rules which may prevent a TCP/IP or UDP/IP connection from taking place (nothing found), and I tried disabling the IPSec protocol with no luck. I've downloaded and installed the latest Windows XP updates and that did not help. The troubled laptop is an HP running Windows XP Media Center Edition with Service Pack 3. Does anyone have any advice on what to try next or how to fix this? Thanks in advance!1 person needs an answerI do too
