Complete disaster when trying to use recovery dvd's/file transfer to transfer files from vista to xp...
Your post makes almost no sense. You can not Easy Transfer from DVDs. What program did you use with the transfer cable? What program did you use to backup your files to the DVDs? Was it one that Zips the backups? Not being there to see exactly what steps you used with the transfer cable, it's virtually impossible to say why it did what it did. Have 5 dvd's with all my stuff from old vista pc. Bought a new win7 pc. TRIED to use "easy" transfer but got the "parameter is incorrect" ox80070057. Ok so then I hooked up my $50 file transfer cable and all that did was erase 1000 songs and half my stuff from my old pc with xp on it with out tranfering it to my new pc! Disappeared... I then thought of just copying files from dvd directly to the "c" drive of new pc. Well they transfered but all I see the 70 or so files that just say backup file. They did not install. They are winzip files it sez. Then I tried to winzip them I got only a few files. Their is TONS of files on this dvd.. Should of stuck with old pc and xp..lost 15 years of songs/cd's. Why would the transfer cable delete most of my stuff on this old pc and not transfer it to new one? Can I get it back?
