Compatability with Vista
Seems like what ever forum a person visits, there is a Vista bashing going on. Well, for me, it seems as if it is just the "newness" and a different look-n-feel of the product; more than it is a problem with the product. Sure, there are areas that present problems, but most of what I seem to read is that the majority of software vendors (drivers, applications, utilities, etc.) just haven't caught up with the "Vista" product yet. So, it winds up being "Vista's" fault, and not the vendor's product. In any case, there also seems to be a bit of "misleading" information out there in the vendor world. A lot of software says it "works with Vista", or "is Vista compatable", or "written for Vista". What is very unclear; If the product is "compatable" with Vista, is it ALL versions of Vista? There seems to be a very deliberate wording on the packages, and most never mention the version of Vista or the Vista-core (i.e. 32bit vs 64bit). So, the $64M question: Does Vista (64 or 32) have the necessary microcode in place to permit a whole variety of software (some 32bit, others 64bit) to work with the OS and platform on which it runs? Sort of a, "emulator" that products tap into to have the same "look-n-feel" of the hardware that it ran on before? Thank you in advance for your comments and observations.
