Command to execute desktop slideshow?
Is there any way to start the desktop slideshow with a command? I'd like to associate a hotkey to it. Thanks, Pablo

Hi Pablo, Based on my known, you need to run a third party software. Windows 7 doesnt natively support it. Thanks.

Robinson - We're talking about turning a screensaver on - right? If so, doesn't Office 2007's OSA__.exe still have that switch? I remember older versions of Office installing a shortcut that invoked the screensaver when you clicked on it. I suppose that's still 3rd party software - even though it's a Microsoft product...If it still works - you can create a shortcut on the desktop to OSA.EXE (or OSA9.EXE, depending on the version of MS Office) and modify the startup command to C:\Program Files\...\OSA.EXE /SIt works with Office XP and 2003. Not sure about 2007 though.

You should be able to create a link to, for example, PhotoScreensaver.scr, and double-click it.Doc

Robinson - Don't feel bad... There's a lot of stuff about Windows, DOS and other MS products I've learned and since forgotten over the years. Not to mention a ton of stuff I still have yet to learn. We're, of course, assuming he has Office. For all we know, he may not.

Ummm....I'm not talking of running the screensaver, I'm looking for a way to trigger the desktop slideshow, the 'dreamscene lite' new in Windows 7...instead of waiting a set time (say 30 minutes) for the desktop background to change, I wish to be able to trigger that using a hotkey. That could mean running a program, invoking a dll exported function (using rundll32 for example), using a COM object, etc. Anyone knows where does that slideshow service reside? Thanks, Pablo
