Command prompt does not gracefully close applications when closing
I just switched my development laptop to Windows 7 and have run into this relatively minor but very frustrating issue. During development I'm constantly stopping and starting applications in various command windows. Using Windows XP I could just close the whole window and the command prompt would send a graceful shutdown signal to the running application, wait for it to close, and then close itself. Now using Windows 7 when I close the command prompt it just kills the running application without sending the graceful shutdown signal, so none of my shutdown code executes. This MAY be because I'm running the command prompt as an administrator, which wasn't necessary under XP, but I can't avoid that. How do I (or even CAN I) revert this functionality to the way XP operated? My current workarounds create an annoying three step process for what used to be a single click, and I certainly can't expect users to avoid a perfectly normal windows habit of clicking the 'X'. Hopefully someone else has run into this and found a solution.
