Comcast McAfee incompatibility on Windows 7RC 64
I am a comcast customer and have access to their free McAfee program. When I tried to install it, I got a message that there was an operating system incompatibility. Has anyone else tried this install, and is there an available fix for it?

Hello MrXman,When you download McAfee, have you tried running the .exe file in compatibility mode? If you cannot get it to work doing that, here is a list of beta versions of different security programs that will work with Windows 7 RC.

SaMcp1123, I am currently running AVG, but I would prefer to continue using McAfee. I will try your suggestion of running it in compatibility mode. It is the only program that I have not been able to get to work so far. Thanks for your response.

Hello SaMcp1123,No, it still not working. I will continue to run AVG, until a fix is found.

MrXman: That sounds like a good solution. McAfee offers a beta of their antivirus software for Windows 7 users, however, Comcast probably won't release their version until Windows 7 is finalized. - Nick

I am a Comcast customer and had the same issue. I was able to sign up for McAfee's beta and download the software. It installed fine and seems to be running fine. The license is until 12/2009 which should be plenty of time for Comcast to release their free McAfee for Windows 7. They did say they were waiting until it was released.

I agree, McAfee does not work for the 64 chips in the beta....So, that is why I decided to end my beta early for fear of security breaches.Looking forward to the new Windows 7 retail version, because you will not really need any anti virus protection due to microsoft offering a free program to replace Onecare which I kind like better than McAfee...doesn't get in your way as much.

I was able to install it but after a couple of reboots. It was giving an error message that Mc Afee could not load and I should reinstall it.
