Com Port accessability issues
I need to change the com port inentity for a rs232 - usb adaptor - the software I am using will only recognize to com port 4 - It is presently listed as com port 6 - when i try to use the advanced port tab on the device screen I get the nastygram that I don't have registry authoriztion to change the port designation number - what do I need to do?????Ralph

Ralph, I'm not sure how this interfaces with USB, but to change a COM port number, do the following: Open the Device Manager as an Administrator , and double-click on the COM1 port under "Ports (COM & LPT)" in order to open its Properties menu. Navigate to the Port Settings tab and click Advanced, and in the resultant menu you should be able to change the port designation number.-Alex
