Color profile seems to randomly reset
I'm using Windows 7 x64 RTM, all the latest patches installed and the latest driver for my video card (ATI Radeon 4870 512MB RAM). This is the second time now that I've started up my machine and everything was washed out/dull looking, as if the brightness or contrast was lowered. This is the exact same machine I've run XP 32 bit on for years and never encountered anything similar. The first time it happened, I ran the display calibration wizard and things were fixed for a few weeks. I turned it on this morning though and the same exact problem ocurred. I ran "dccw", thinking I needed to totally re-run the calibration (ugh), but oddly, when I hit "next" everything was back to its proper brightness/look and I exited out. And now my display looks totally normal again. What is the deal? Why would it reset on me twice now? When I first installed Win 7 everything looked fine, I never had to tweak the balance until the problem first appeared. This is a clean Win 7 install, I've never had any RC or beta versions on here and this wasn't an upgrade.

HiStrange that this would happen in an apparent random manner? The only thing I can recommend is that you check to make sure you have the latest Windows 7 driver version. You might want to also check the Release Notes for all of the known issues.ATI Drivers & Tools Radeon 4800 Series -64-BitI would also recommend that you check the Event Viewer for any errors that coincide with the date/time that this behavior occurred.Let us know what you find.Thank You for testing Windows 7 Ronnie Vernon MVP

Nothing mentioned in the release notes that would apply and I don't see anything in the event viewer under error/warning that could portain to the issue. Turns out there's a newer Catalyst driver (9.8, I have 9.7) so we'll see if that does anything but again, didn't see anything in the release notes about it.Also, I just now turned on my machine and again, the same problem happened. Clicked "next" a few times in dccw, and at the screen where it first shows you a graphic regarding what to look for when calibrating, I quit the app and my brightness/contrast reset itself and was fixed.

After checking this issue, I agree with Ronnies opinion. This issue mostly caused by the out-of-date display driver on the computer, you can remove the original old driver completely and then install the latest driver and components to solve this issue. The latest driver is here, ATI Catalyst 9.8 Suite for Windows 7 (64 bit) and ATI Catalyst 9.8 Components for Windows 7 (64 bit) And then test this issue again on your computer. Betty
