Code 10 issue with a supposedly Win7 PnP device, any advice?
I've recently installed a PCI USB card to a windows 7 x64 box. The device (a VIA chipset 'Dynamode' USB-4PCI-2.) Is supposedly Windows 7 PnP compatible and doesn't come with a driver disk. The manufacturers website has this to say:
Windows 7 A lot of driver support for VIA chips is built into Microsoft® Windows® 7 (32- and 64-bit). If you're looking for Windows 7 drivers for this product, please note that full support for VIA's USB 1.1 and 2.0 chipsets and controllers is included in Windows 7 . It is not necessary to download extra drivers.
However, the card doesn't work with device manager returning a 'Code 10' error. A quick search of the internet showed this to be a reasonably common problem supposed something to do with 32 vs 64 bit drivers in Windows. My first step was to ask Windows to check online for drivers. It searched and told me that the best possible drivers for my hardware were installed. I tried uninstalling the device from device manager and re-booting and device manager now shows a code 24 error... Any advice please?

Try to plug the PCI card into a different PCI slot. "A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" CLIP- Stellvertreter http://www.winvistaside.de/

Hi, Yeah, please kindly select another PCI slot for test. This code 24 means that the device was not found (for example, it is missing or is not working properly). To resolve this error code, follow the recommended solution. If the device still does not work, make sure the device is connected to your computer correctly. For example, make sure all cables are correctly installed, or that the adapter cards are properly seated in their slots.
