Client connects to vpn server but doent work
Hi! Configured a vpn server with home internet connection, form the adapter settings. To test it out tried to connect to it via cellular network tether to another pc. Just does not want to work. To connect client for the server I put the global ip address of the server (the one i get by typeing ip address in google), and the relevant user id password I set the range of ip for the client in the IPV4 setting. Could ping the client form the server, and also the other way round. (I assume 'ping' is when you type 'ping [ip]' in cmd and it responds as aposed to timeout). Also verified that 1723 port rule exist in windows firewall, and also that it is port forwarded to the server local ip in router setting. Tried disabling my only security program 'avast'. When I connect the client, in the adapter setting of the server incoming connection does appear, when i check status it says media connected but everything else (ipv4 and ipv6) is disconnected. Also bytes sent and received is zero always zero. I might be doing it totally wrong, but my plan was to have secure connection (preferably to my home) when using public networks. But even if there is much easier way to do this than vpn i still want to figure out whats wrong with this vpn.

Hi, Could you please tell me which server operating system you are using? or it just a client os like win 7 and xp, you are configuring the vpn service. From where to where you are trying to connect to? Do you own a static ip address from the isp? If yes then see whether you have created a vpn user in the router first (in case you are not using a separate VPN server which is directly connected to the internet and you dont have a windows server which is a Domain controller). Thanks and Regards Mohamed
