Citrix and Lync 2010 - Lync UAC prompt at first login for all new users.

So - Our Citrix users have access to Lync 2010, but for every new user we must remote control and type in our admin passwords because of an UAC prompt that every new user get when they start Lync the first time.

How can we get rid of this..? Not UAC as a whole, but for first Lync start.

Hi Stoltenberg,

You can try to use a GPO to add a registry key on client machine.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers\ <path_to_executable>

If one file is set "Run this program as an administrator", the registry key for this file will have the value data: RUNASADMIN

For example:

Hope it can be helpful.

Eric

Thanks @Eric_YangK - But I am not sure what this registry edit will do. It looks like this will only make sure that Lync is run as admin, but this is not possible in our enviornment. Our users are not admins, so they cannot run anything as admin.

Hi Stoltenberg,

I suggest you can also post a question on Windows Client forum, the people there are specialists in this field. Thanks for your understanding.

Best regards,

Eric
