Changing wireless MAC - win 7
I have used a few applications such as SMAC, Technitium MAC address changer, but none of them appear to work. I am running these applications as administrator, and I am using Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit). For some reason though, when using these applications, the spoofed MAC address seems to just remain inactive. I've tried going to Network and Sharing Center and editing the network adapter "Locally administered MAC Address" too and restarting the adapter. ipconfig /all still shows the original MAC after all of this. Any suggestions? EDIT: Nevermind, just ran across this in an article. Is this true? So the possible MAC addresses in Windows 7 for wireless adapters: X2-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX X6-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX XA-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX XE-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX It is limitation from Microsoft.

Hi, MAC address is a unique identifier assigned to most network adapters or network interface cards (NICs) by the manufacturer for identification. It is not recommended to change the address for any reason as spoofing the address can lead to many problems. Since the MAC is needed to find your computer at a local level, changing your MAC address will tend to confuse the router. However, if you really want to, you can refer Novak Wu’s suggestions in the thread link below. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itpronetworking/thread/59e07df3-471c-499e-ad5f-e7cb507595df Thank you for your understanding.
