Changing the registered user/owner in Win XP
Howdy Forum: Thanks for your answers on many topics!!!!Here is my current dilemma. At my office I 'inherited' a computer that was used by a person who retired. How do I change/delete their name, profile, etc. without doing a complete re-load of the operating system? I have changed the registry key and placed my name as the 'owner' and I have copied all of the directories and files to my newuser directory in the documents and settings directory via windows explorer. Now I can't delete the old user. Am I missing something? Thanks for your help!1 person needs an answerI do too

When you created your new account, did you make it an administrator account? If not, open a Run window (Windows key+R), type “control userpasswords2” (type the space but not the quotes) and press Enter. Click your name > Properties > Group Membership Tab > Other and make yourself an administrator. Now try to remove the unwanted account.
