Changing a protected password
Remember - This is a public forum so never post private information such as email or phone numbers! Ideas: Can anyone help? I have the administrative privilege to my computer and my password to access the computer is protected...but i forgot it. So i have been logging in under another account and now i can't install anything....because the account don't have that privilege........How do i reset my protected password and login as an admin? Unfortunately if you can't remember the password and don't have any other accounts on the machine that have Administrator privileges then your only options are to use a password recovery tool to try and find it (http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/tp/passrecovery.htm) or reinstall XP from scratch.-B- http://www.officeforlawyers.com Author: The Lawyer's Guide to Microsoft Outlook

Boot into safe mode. Do you see the account "Administrator" showing on the Welcome page? If your PC came with Windows XP preinstalled, it's possible that the Administrator account has no password and you can get in that way and change your normal account's password. Otherwise, as Ben said, it's time for a reinstall. Say goodbye to any data you have in the account whose password you can't remember.Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook]
