Change how mail app handles mail server
I use two different devices to retrieve e-mail from a server.  The main use is Outlook on a PC but a secondary use is to use the Mail app on a Surface.  When mail is deleted on the Surface, it appears to also be deleted on the server.  I want to turn this off to insure that all e-mails that are received make it to the PC (for example if an e-mail is deleted by mistake).  I do not see any way to affect this setting from the Mail app settings.  How do I do this?

BY outlook do you mean MS Office outlook or Outlook.com in a web browser?

How are you accessing your mail on each device (POP, IMAP, mobile app, etc)?

MS Office Outlook.  On MS Office Outlook, it is accessed via POP.  The Mail app on the Surface is not clear what it is using but the settings (ports, etc.) are the same when specified

Might I suggest you ask this this question at http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/newthread?forum=office&threadtype=Questions&cancelurl=%2Fen-us%2Foffice.   While I suspect is is a config issue with one or the other the experts are there.

AFAIK you need to leave a copy on the server when accessed via POP and via surface I am sorry to say I am clueless.

Hi hdewitt,

According to my experience ,the deleted e-mail will be saved to the "Deleted Items".I am not familar with the configuration of the Mail App.
Considering this is an app of Surface ,we have a specific forum for it .It is recommended to look for help there. They are more familiar with this app and they may have more resources to resolve this issue.
