I changed my laptop from domain to workgroup, then I restarted my computer so the changes took effect and now I cannot log with my Administrator password. The computer was given to me by my grandfather and he does not remeber any of the other accounts. How can I log in to change what I did? I have tried password reset discs and none of them work. My grandfather lost the CDs that came with it, so I cannot do a factory reset. Is there anything I can do to fix my mistake besides taking it in? Getting it fixed is expensive! Hello YukiBefore you converted from domain to workgroup, you should have change the local administrator's password. Now that you are already in the workgroup, all you need is to login locally using a local computer account.If you can't remmember the password which is your case, then you viable option is to re image/ reinstall windows on the laptop. Another option might be to ask the domain administrator of the domain in which the laptop once in and see if they can had created other local users account other than the administrator. Nice new Windows7 desktop, laptop on XP professional, changed laptop to workgroup as Windows7 does not do domains, was asked for a user name + passwork, put these in, rebooted my laptop now I am locked out as it cannot accept any of my previous passwords or the new one I gave for the laptop work group. Very frustrating deperately need help.
