Change default folder info displayed in Windows Explorer
I need the process by which I can make my default Windows Explorer to show Last Date Saved and Size on every or any folder that is opened.

To show the Last Date Saved and Size information for every folder, you can turn on the Deatils Pane in the Windows 7. You can open your comptuer, then click on "Organize -> Layout -> Details Pane". After that, you would be able to see the folder created time, and modified time. If you can't enable the Details Pane, you can refer to the following steps. Please change the setting in the "Folder Options". Click "Organize -> Folder and Search Options" and enable "Show preview and filters" option. After that, you would be able to enable the Details Pane. As the folder size, we can't make it show the folder size unless running a third party tools.Good luck! John

Thank you John for your reply. I am still running the RC, even though I have had my retail copy for 2 months. The "Show preview and filters " option is not available for me in this version. After your answer I found that I had made an error in my question. My concern is not the folders but the files. I have to constantly right click on the Name bar and select those for each directly. It will keep them when I close the folder and are almost always be there when I return. At times the column will be there but no info. As fore mentioned I am still with the RC but would like to know in advance how to make all folders when opened show the info. Thanks JB

As your concern, I would like to tell you that you can get the file information once you enable the Detail pane, it would show the information at the bottom of the Windows Explorer. Since you can't enable the Details Pane, you current user profile setting may be corrupted. At this point, it's better to test your issue in a new account, then you should be able to Enable the Details Pane.Since you have the Retail version, why not install it on your computer, it can work more stably than the RC version. In addition, you can try the Explorer ++ program, this can show the information you want. Good luck!John

Hello John, I will try the new account change to see if it works. But, my computer does not do logins. Turn it on walk away and every thing is loaded. There is nothing that personal or private on my machine. There are 5 machines in the house and if someone's machine is not on they can use mine. Yes, being the fastest machine there are sometimes problems of getting a person off of it. I did download the Explorer++ program and will use it. As for Windows 7 Retail install; After going through Beta and RC, spending weeks on one machine then to fine out a PCI sound card driver was giving me a problem doing the only thing I knew to do REINSTALL OS. But then I would restart the computer after every driver a program install and a cause was then found. And the resolution to the problem as actually given right here in the forum. Three machine are running Windows 7RC and it is only until now that I have a need for something that can't get resolved in the OS. So the overall experience with Windows 7 is good. Right now I just want to set back and enjoy the fruits of the previous labor. I should have one other retail version soon. Will not be able to purchase any more. Income has changed a lot. Just enjoying it for now. Probably install it in Feb.. Thanks again JB

Hello John, I have tried the New User Account. The Show Preview and Filters still does not show up on this version of Windows 7. I would like to confirm that you are saying that I will be able to chose Last Date Saved and Size and after that any folder that is opened will show those item in a column for every file that is shown in the folder. That is my objective. I have not installed the Explorer++ yet. Been busy on a Christmas project for a friend and then a 818 file project for a Nano Christmas gift. Sort of comical: His wife said he was suppose to get her IPod Nano already preloaded. They don't have a computer so guess who got chosen. JB
