hi My brother bought a new laptop with Windows 7 installed (Factory Install) Acer Aspire 5517 AMD Athlon (tm) Processor TF - 20 1.6 Ghz 2.00 GB 64 bit in System Properties it shows Windows is Activated and it shows Windows is Genuine, I did a check In System Properties the direct link to Change product key does NOT appear ( as it does in my Vista and recent Upgrade to windows 7) I downloaded Magic Jellybean Key finder to see whats in the Computer and the activated Key is VERY different then Key on the Computer label (it must be the Factory key and is temporary ) or is there a different location in factory installed to change the prod. key the computer is lees then 1 week, ( may be should take it back and have them take a look at it the people seem nice) hope its nothing serious thanks

hi again perhaps I should wait a bit or the answer is right be for me and I don't see it or I was not clear enough I know I am on the right window Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > System at the bottom it says Windows Activation Product ID: here is a long number..... and here should be 3 blue words to the right is the link to Validation and its there Change product key, but there is nothing its the 3 blue words that aren't there Change product key could someone hind what I should do next thank you

Why is this a concern? Are you being prompted to activate? My guess is this is because it's an OEM version of Win 7 and is bound to the hardware so there is no ability to change the key. I do have that ability on my retail Win 7 Pro X64 version.Rich Why can't I be different and original like everybody else? - Vivian Stanshal

thank you No I am not prompted I have read many times about not activating automatic and the the telephone can be time consuming Will keep an eye on it
