Certificate Error connecting to WHS from Windows 7 (64-bit)
I am attempting to connect to my Window Home Server via remote access. I have two Windows XP machines that connect just fine however, neither of my Windows 7 (64-bit) machines will connect. When I navigate to the login screen (https://mydomain.homeserver.com/remote/filesRoot.aspx) I receive the following error message. There is a problem with this website's security certificate. This organization's certificate has been revoked. Security certificate problems may indicate an attempt to fool you or intercept any data you send to the server. We recommend that you close this webpage and do not continue to this website. Click here to close this webpage. Continue to this website (not recommended). More information If you arrived at this page by clicking a link, check the website address in the address bar to be sure that it is the address you were expecting. When going to a website with an address such as https://example.com, try adding the 'www' to the address, https://www.example.com. If you choose to ignore this error and continue, do not enter private information into the website. For more information, see "Certificate Errors" in Internet Explorer Help. All computers are using IE 8 but the W7 machines have the 256-bit cipher strength. This page does not allow me to view the certificate or further diagnose the problem, only close the window or get "more information". I am able to make an remote desktop connection with no problem. Can someone point me to a solution? Thanks

Hi, The warning messages are by default by design in IE8 and we cannot suppress them however provided options by which we can stop IE from checking of certification revocation. You can try the following options: 1. Configuring some of these policies according to the needs: Policy setting name Policy path Prevent ignoring certificate errors Windows Components\Internet Explorer\Internet Control Panel Check for server certificate revocation Windows Components\Internet Explorer\Internet Control Panel\Advanced Page Check for signatures on downloaded programs Windows Components\Internet Explorer\Internet Control Panel\Advanced Page Allow software to run or install even if the signature is invalid Windows Components\Internet Explorer\Internet Control Panel\Advanced Page Turn on warn about certificate address Windows Components\Internet Explorer\Internet Control Panel\Advanced Page 2. Add the site under the “Trusted” zone in the IE Security page. 3. Add the certificate to the trusted roots in the machine. Some of the above policies will work as a global setting for any site with certificates, so the recommended way is to get them signed or import them under the trusted root. I exported the certificate from my XP machine (running IE8) and have imported the certificate into the Trusted Root of my Windows 7 (64-bit) machine and still experience the problems. The site has been included in the Trusted Zone all along yet the error still occurs. IE8 on the XP machine still functions and will access the website without a problem. One additional note: The option to "Continue to this website (not recommended)." does not appear on my screen and is not enabled. It must be hidden or disabled in some manner.

Same here and I get the 403 error if I do the ignore and continue. Even managed the export / import having to tell people to do all that to get to a shared folder from outside is a PITA It would be much easier to give out a single account name and password like I used to do. Starting to suspect a MS update as it was fine few weeks ago and havent installed anything new on the WHS box win 7 x64, IE8 not seen any real help wandering the net apart from threads like these that try to help but dont always get the job doneDo unto others before they get chance to screw you !
