Cd and DVD Drive Letters Change Periodically in XP
I have assigned my CD and DVD drive letters in XP to L and M so that my external drive can be G which an available letter. The CD and DVD drive letters will change periodically and are somewhat dependent on whether my e-sata drive is on or not. However, they do not change consistently. Sometimes they will be L and M, sometimes G and I (these letters are not assigned) and sometimes they will be I and K (also not assigned). Does anyone know of a way to keep these two drives at L and M?1 person needs an answerI do too

Hello GTnH I don`t know of any way to actually fix the drive letters. The usual advice is to give them letters well away from all the others. You have tried that by assigning L & M. That should have done the trick. All I can suggest is to call them Y & Z and see if they stay put..
