Capturing an Image Using WinPE

Hello Everyone!

We have a Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet 2 that has Windows 8 Pro and has been upgraded to Windows 8.1 via the app store.

I captured an image using WinPE from that tablet and deployed it to the same identical tablet to two other tablets without any issues.

I actually deployed the Windows 8.1 image several times to two other tablets and everything work well as I was playing around with it to make sure everything works fine.

However when I deployed it on the 3rd tablet, I encountered an issue where it won't activate the Windows.

The error message was 0xC004C008 and as per my research it means that the key is being used by another machine that's why it won't activate. The serial key that it was using apparently was from my main tablet where I grabbed the image but how come when I deployed it on two other tablets they work fine? I checked the serial key of the two working tablets and they have different windows key but the faulty one was the same as my main tablet.

Additional info:

- The main tablet where I grabbed the image was sysprepped/generalize oobe.

- I also noticed probably a factor that can differentiate the tablet that I was having issues with and the tablets that were working. It was the "Machine Type Model", which are the same on the tablets that works properly and it was different on the tablet that won't activate. Specification wise like HDD size, cpu type, speed, ram, are all the same.

Is there like a limitation on how many times I can deploy the image since Windows probably is detecting that I have used the key so many times?

Any idea what's happening here?

Thanks in advance!
