Cant ping XP machine on domain
Hi, I have a server 2008 domain - with 2 clients on it - windows 7 ultimate x64 and windows xp professional x86. I can ping both the servers fine from the windows 7 machine i can also ping all computers (including the windows 7 machine) from XP The only path that doesnt work is Windows 7 to Windows XP... I have IPv6 on all computers execpt the XP machine (although i did install it on xp and added an IPv6 address to it) but it didnt work so i uninstalled IPv6 again on xp (im wondering if this is why it doesnt work now?) All computers use ipV6 addresses when i ping by computer name - execpt if the computer doesnt have ipV6 running - eg - xp uses ipV4 addresses to ping other computers on the network as it itself doesnt have ipV6 - also all computers will ping the xp machine by ipV4 address even tho they have ipV6 as well But from the windows 7 to xp it doesnt ever get a reply - even tho it has the correct ip address to ping to (10.0.0.5) ---- I have installed and ticked - link layer topography responder on the xp machine to no effect--- -- i just tested it on the servers also and they get the same problem (request timed out) so it would seem xp can ping out - but wont accept incoming pings - any ideas? If you need any other information feel free to ask. Thank you so much in advance this is bugging me alot lol Also as a side note - i used to have the xp machine get a DHCP address from the server and have since changed it to static (different IP) and have disabled all DHCP scopes as they are not needed at the moment. And apart from ping it can see it from windows 7 fine (i get the pc come up in network) and also i can access the shares on XP fine from 7. Really weird Timez82
