Hi nass1, thanks for your reply but that is not the problem, i could click 100 times on a folder and nothing will happen until i have pressed ctrl esc to get the windows menu up on screen then i click any part of the desktop to close the menu after this i can open my files as usual, also in any programs where i need to click and drag this just won't happen. I have noticed that firefox is running very odd at the moment too, could this be related?, it will load up ok but when i select a site to go to it hangs and task manager shows it is not responding for up to a minute, and sometimes when i go back a page it goes back but then loads back up the page i have just come from.

Hi Kirsty,Download this scanner and the anti-spyware programs and run a full/complete scanhttp://www.freedrweb.com/download+cureit/gr/?lng=en Malwarebytes© Corporation - Anti-Malwarehttp://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam/program/mbam-setup.exeSuperAntispyware - Freehttp://www.superantispyware.com/superantispywarefreevspro.htmlDo the scan when you don't need to use the machine and best if you done it as soon as you can to get a good idea how clean the machine. If the scan did not show up an infection, try to restore the system to a point where all was working okay. nass -- http://www.nasstec.co.uk
