Cant find battery icon in window 7... can anyone help?
Hi Im using window 7 and the battery icon does not appear in the left corner and I have no idea how long before it suddenly shut down due to low power. I had the LED light from my computer changing from green to orange to red before it power off automatically. I tried using the customise mode but the power icon was not highlighted and I cant access the on-off drop down of the power mode. My notebook is Fujitsu Lifebook 4410S RAM 2GB bought less than 1 year ago. Originally the icon was there but not sure why it disppear recently. Would appreciate if anyone can help thks!

Hi The icon is probably hidden. To find the settings click the small triangle to the left of the icons in the task bar (bottom left of the screen). This might display the missing icon in the menu if it does then you want to make it permanently visible. If it doesn't you still need to follow these instructions. Right click the Task bar (bar with start button along bottom of screen). Choose properties. Click the Customize button in the Notification area section of the Taskbar tab. If you icon was in the fly out menu from earlier it will be listed hare. Change the setting to Show Icon and notifications. If your Power icon is not visible in this list click the link "Turn system icons On or Off". Power should be listed here. Change the setting to On. Click the back button (top left). Check the settings for what will display. When finished click OK. Hope this helps. G North MMI

I have a similar issue however I cannot turn on the icon in the "Turn system icons On or Off". I've tried all the usual fixes that you see on the web, as well as removing the battery, replacing etc. but still no joy. This is on a Windows 7 Home Premium non networked (LAN'd) laptop so it hasn't had any Group Policy setting configured. Any other ideas?

Just to add; I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium on a Acer Aspire 4820T laptop, Windows 7 is patched up to date, and Acer BIOS is at 1.22 (latest version). When I go to the following; "Show Hidden Icons |Customize | Turn System Icons On or Off" The 'Behaviour' for the Power icon is set to Off and will not allow me to set to On. I've done the system registry setting amendments as per Microsoft guidelines and still have no joy. This is getting a little frustrating as I often work on the move with being plugged in and I have no idea how much power I have left in my battery when I'm working (this has resulted in a couple of surprise shutdowns). Please can someone offer some advice as this is starting to really annoy me now.

Hi I don't have an Acer but it does have it's own power management software with desktop warnings (ePower Management). May be it is the cause of your problem. Obviously you'd have to uninstall the program to find out, or read around that subject. It would be easier to see if it's desktop warnings could save you the pain.G North MMI

Sorry, should have added...I removed that this morning as part of my diagnostic testing and it didn't resolve the issue. Any more ideas?
